This 10-part webinar series will focus on advancing results in the three domains of the CMS 5-Star Quality Rating System:  Health Inspections, Staffing, and Quality Measures.  Participants will gain insight into how the health inspection, staffing, quality measure and overall rating is calculated.  Tips on how to analyze your data and develop an effective action plan to achieve 5-Star status will be emphasized, along with practical facility application of QAPI elements to drive your 5-Star Ratings.

Participants will:

  • Understand the three domains of the 5-Star Rating System
  • Understand how each component is calculated and the impact on the overall 5-Star Rating
  • Acquire knowledge to implement best practices for 5-Star improvement

Target Audience:  Nursing Home Administrators, Directors of Nursing, RAI/MDS Coordinators, Nursing Leadership, QA Director, Social Services, Facility Department Managers

Shelly Maffia, MSN, MBA, RN, LNHA, QCP serves as a Director of Regulatory Services for Proactive Medical Review & Consulting, LLC.

Shelly Maffia is a Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator with experience serving as Director of Nursing, Administrator, and as a multi-site Corporate Nurse Consultant. She holds AANAC’s QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) credential, and the Long Term Care Infection Prevention Certification. She is an AHIMA approved ICD-10 trainer.

Shelly specializes in not only identifying SNF regulatory compliance risks, but in supporting SNF leadership in implementing the practical, real life solutions that drive staff engagement and 5 star results.  Shelly coordinates Proactive’s active Phase 2 Requirements of Participation facility partnership project teams.

Valid for the live webinars only: NAB (Nursing Home Administrators) Approved Contact Hours: 1.25 each session

Valid for the live and recorded webinars: This continuing nursing education activity was approved by Oregon Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation for 1.25 contact hours per webinar (12.5 contact hours for the entire series). Approval valid through 03/18/2022. OCEAN ID #2020-05.

Valid for the live webinars on 3/18/20, 8/19/20, 9/16/20, 10/21/20, 11/18/20, & 12/16/20 only:  This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers – Hawaii Chapter for one (1) continuing education contact hour per live session for the above-listed dates.

State licensure boards have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses.

To receive a Certificate of Completion, each individual must register, pay the registration fee, and complete the Evaluation after the webinar, attesting to their attendance at the session(s). Please allow 30 days for processing.
