Kick off your new year by giving back to your community! We will be collaborating with the Kaua’i Independent Food Bank to bring you the first Perspectives on Community Health Field Trip of 2018. Join us for a morning of learning about this organization and volunteer your time to help pack backpacks.
The Kaua’i Independent Food Bank’s (KIFB) Backpack Program provides food for keiki over the weekends, when school lunches are not available. The Backpack Program began in 2007 after KIFB staff serving healthy snacks at a westside after-school program observed students “stocking up” on Friday, so they would have enough food for the weekend. The primary goal of the program is to help children who rely on free school meals for nourishment by ensuring they do not go hungry on weekends.
Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation with you to the field trip. Every little bit helps!
