When we look at the data in this 2024 report, the state’s need for healthcare professionals has decreased over the past two years because training initiatives have increased the supply of workers, but demand for healthcare professionals continues to grow because of an aging population. Rep. Scott Saiki, 2024 Achievement in Advocacy Awardee

The Healthcare Association of Hawaii has conferred its 2024 Achievement in Advocacy Award on House Speaker Scott Saiki.

Speaker Saiki has been a steady champion for ensuring that all Hawai`i residents have access to critical services, including preventive care. He was a leader in bringing together public and private resources to stand up COVID-19 vaccination sites throughout the state, ensuring that vulnerable residents could be protected as soon as possible. The speaker has also supported innovative programs to grow our healthcare workforce. In the years between 2019 and 2022, the number of vacant patient-facing, non-physician jobs nearly doubled.

Donate to the HHERF Scholarship Fund

HAH is holding a scholarship fund drive to help bolster the healthcare workforce in Hawai`i. All of the proceeds go towards awarding students a scholarship who are pursuing a college degree in any healthcare related field. Anyone can donate any amount.
