PSUD Module 2: Medication for Opioid Use Disorder for Pregnant and Postpartum Persons



Overview

This module was developed as part of a training series intended for a multidisciplinary group of professionals including but not limited to medical providers (physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners), nurses, social workers, crisis line workers, first-responders, and non-clinical staff. Training content incorporates cultural values and community perspectives that are unique to Hawai‘i.

    • Explore the neurobiology of addiction and the pharmacology for treatment of addiction.

    • Identify appropriate medical treatment options and a patient-centered management plan for pregnant and postpartum persons with substance use disorder.

    • Identify the risk and benefits of medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) for pregnant and postpartum persons.

    • Explore barriers and facilitators to access MOUD for pregnant and postpartum persons with substance use disorder.

CE credit is available for physicians, nurses, and social workers.

Hawai‘i Pacific Health designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for physicians. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Hawai‘i Pacific Health designates this enduring activity for 1.0 contact hours for nurses. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hawai‘i Pacific Health maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 continuing education credits.

Continuing education credit is valid through 12/31/2024.
