2022 Joint Commission Resources (JCR) Virtual Conference

Overview

The Joint Commission accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.

The mission of Joint Commission Resources (JCR) is to continuously improve the safety and quality of healthcare in the United States and in the international community through the provision of education, publications, consultation, and evaluation services.

The Healthcare Association of Hawaii (HAH) is pleased to offer this 2-day virtual conference. Training topics* include:

  • New standards and regulatory updates

  • Leadership including culture of safety, burnout, workplace violence update, performance improvement, contracts, and equity and diversity

  • Infection Control

  • Environment of Care and Life Safety updates

  • Medication Management

  • Nitrous Oxide updates

  • Behavioral Health updates

  • The new Emergency Management chapter

  • Provision of Care including resuscitation, maternal health, patient rights, record of care and information management

  • Telehealth

* May be subject to change

JCR registrants will receive an All-Access Pass to both days of live training and associated materials, the evaluation and attestation form, and the ability to download/print CE certificates immediately.

Note that sessions will not be recorded. Registrants must attend both days in their entirety in order to be eligible for a CE certificate.

Continuing Education Credits

Disclosure statements:

This program on December 8-9, 2022 will award 14 Continuing Education contact hours for the following: ACCME, ANCC, ACHE, and ACPE.  This program also has 1 hour and 15 minutes of Infection Control content.

Full attendance at every session and completion of a post-engagement survey are prerequisites for receiving continuing education credits.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Healthcare Association of Hawaii and Joint Commission Resources.  Joint Commission Resources is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

The Joint Commission is authorized to award the listed hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for this program toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Participants in this program who wish to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants should log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.

Greg Taylor, MD, MSHA, CJCP, FAAPL, FACPE

Dr. Greg Taylor is an experienced physician leader with over 30 years of progressive diverse responsibility in health care. After practicing Emergency Medicine for 11 years, and being Chief of Staff at Mary Washington Hospital, Dr. Taylor focused his full-time attention on medical management, solidifying that commitment by returning to school and obtaining a Master’s in Health Administration. He was the first CMO at Cape Fear Valley and UNC HPR. Ultimately, while at UNC HPR, Dr. Taylor became COO, with oversight of all operational functions including medical management, nursing, information technology, ancillary services, human resources, and a growing medical group, UNC Regional Physicians. UNC Regional Physicians became the largest medical group in the community with a large primary care provider base and numerous specialty groups.

Edward M. Browne, MS, CHC, CHFM, CHPA, CEPSS-HC, CLSS-HC, FACHE, FASHE

Mr. Edward Browne has over 35 years as a healthcare engineer and manager. He has managed facility, safety, security, support service, and clinical departments in a wide variety of healthcare settings – from community hospitals to regional healthcare systems to tertiary teaching institutions including long term and chronic disease. Mr. Browne’s specialties also include environment of care, life safety, construction, emergency preparedness, hazardous materials management, security, food services, environmental services, and real estate.

Mr. Browne has worked nationwide as an environment of care consultant in diverse situations including mental health and pediatric facilities. He has implemented best practices, bringing his expertise to help facilities work through specific problems and has published numerous articles in several national publications on topics specific to our industry.

Mary Angela Cole, MSN, BSN, RN, CIC, CJCP

Ms. Mary Cole’s experience acquired from numerous clinical settings provides the framework for her approach to utilizing standardization and evidenced based practices in the health care environment.

Ms. Cole has worked in infection prevention and control for greater than 15 years, most recently as the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at a large academic trauma center in Atlanta, Georgia. During this time, Mary was instrumental in developing a Tier 1 Ebola Care Unit at Grady Health System. She has actively participated in numerous successful Joint Commission surveys.

Ms. Cole has experience in leadership, education, and performance improvement, which has led to significant decreases in infections. She has produced multiple publications and received awards related to infection prevention and control. Additionally, she is a Certified Yellow Belt. With this designation, she supports The Joint Commission’s activities associated with establishing and sustaining a Robust Process Improvement® (RPI®) culture. As a Certified Yellow Belt, Ms. Cole is trained in the foundational concepts and tools of problem solving and makes improvements to better meet customer expectations and organization objectives.

Ms. Cole has conducted hospital assessments and developed educational programs responsive to the needs of the community, geographic region and country.

Each registrant receives an All-Access Pass to the JCR Virtual Conference which includes your unique link to access to both days of the live conference, conference materials and handouts, the evaluation and attestation form, and the ability to download/print your CE certificate immediately. Remember, attendance at both days is required to receive your CE certificate.

The following rates are per individual. Split registrations are not accepted. Registration is not final until payment has been received.

Member Rate:

  • Early Bird Rate (valid through 11/4/22): $750 per person

  • Regular Registration Rate (effective 11/5/22 - 12/2/22): $800 per person

Non-Member Rate:

  • Early Bird Rate (valid through 11/4/22): $900 per person
