Overview

Readiness Training for October 1, 2023!

An updated version of the MDS 3.0 (version 1.18.11) will be implemented effective October 1, 2023, and the new MDS 3.0 data set is undergoing the most significant change to the RAI since its implementation in 2010. This session will review key changes to the MDS item sets and how to accurately code any new or revised items as a critical first step in preparing for the changes. In addition, discussion will include key considerations for the overarching impact of the October changes on facility processes including, but not limited to, the potential impact to reimbursement, implications for the CAAs and individualized Care Planning, discharge planning, survey, SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP), and the Five Star rating.

This workshop will prepare participants by sharing insights into the MDS 3.0 changes and will provide guidance on action steps to take to effectively operationalize these changes within facility processes.

Key training components of this workshop include:

  • Overview of the history and purpose of the MDS

  • In-depth review of the Changes to section A, C, D, G, GG, N, and O of the MDS

  • Impact of the changes on the completion of the Care Area Assessments (CAAs) and Individualized care planning process

  • Overview of SNF QRP including data collection and calculation of new measures

  • PDPM Payment Implications

  • Five Star Rating impact on the quality measure and staffing domains

The registration fee includes access to the live virtual workshop on June 5, 2023, from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm HST and any corresponding handouts/materials. The workshop will be recorded and made available to registrants.

Continuing Education

Five (5) continuing education contact hours are available for for nursing home administrators and nurses for attending the live training.

To be eligible for a continuing education certificate each person must register for the training, pay the registration fee, attend the virtual workshop and complete the corresponding HAH evaluation.

Valid for the live workshop only: Five (5) NAB contact hours are are pending approval. Nursing Home Administrators must provide their NAB ID # when registering in order for CE credit to be automatically uploaded to their NAB Registry account. (Example of NAB ID #: R1234567). Proactive LTC Consulting is managing all NAB credits.

Valid for the live workshop and on-demand recording through 6/5/2025: This nursing continuing professional development activity approved by Oregon Nurses Association, an accredited approver of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation, for five (5) nursing contact hours. Approval valid through 06/05/2025; OCEAN ID #2023-20.
