EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  • Describe a deeper understanding of neurobiological underpinnings
    after experiencing a TBI

  • Define differing presentations of TBI, from mild (concussions) to more
    moderate-severe injuries in the pediatric population, as well as common
    recovery trajectories

  • State a clear understanding of how to identify “red flags” in the
    Emergency Department to determine who may need acute brain imaging

  • Recognize common functional changes during hospitalization and
    highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration during the
    care of patients with TBI’s

  • Identify the relationship between PTSD and TBI symptoms, as well as
    evidence-based interventions for PTSD with and without comorbid
    post-concussion symptoms
