HAH Cancels Gala, Scholarships to Continue
7c101a33-3efa-4e52-a36d-966b3e29d107.jpg

We decided to not hold this year’s Awards & Scholarship Gala and the Hawaii Healthcare Heroes celebration on Oct. 24. Instead, we are devoting HAH staff time and resources to support Hawaii’s hospitals, post-acute care facilities, home health agencies and hospices as they fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

We will continue to invest in Hawaii’s healthcare workforce with the Hawaii Hospital Education and Research Foundation healthcare scholarships. Team members at HAH member organizations and their immediate family can apply for healthcare scholarships of $500 to $2,000 to cover professional certification and healthcare-related education from the community college to doctoral degree levels.

See more about the scholarship winners here.

For more information, please contact Jamie Velasco at jvelasco@hah.org or at 521-8961.

COVID-19 Screening Sites

The Healthcare Association of Hawaii has put together a statewide list of COVID-19 Screening Sites. Please carefully review the instructions for each site as some do not accept walk ins but a few sites will accept walk ins. Kaiser patients can only go to one of the Kaiser clinics but you need to call the listed number first.

Patients need to bring insurance cards and a picture ID if you are referred to any of the screening sites.

Coronavirus

The Healthcare Association of Hawaii (HAH) and Hawaii Healthcare Emergency Management (HHEM) are working closely with the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) and other partners on getting accurate information to our members about the novel coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, and to keep the public informed about the readiness of our hospitals and healthcare providers should it emerge here.

President and CEO Hilton Raethel represented HAH members at the Governor’s press conference at the DOH on Wednesday, and at the state’s briefing for city and county leaders on Friday. HHEM Executive Director Chris Crabtree has also spoken to the news media, and continues to keep emergency Coalition members informed about the recommendations from the DOH and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The chances of someone contracting the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus remain low, and no case has been discovered in Hawaii to date. That said, please continue to monitor the situation closely and pay attention to the recommendations of the CDC. Whether we are facing SARS or Ebola or 2019-nCoV, we urge you to be prepared.

The DOH has created an updated flyer and an FAQ on coronavirus released today that you can share with patients, residents, families, visitors, and employees.

Here is the link to the main DOH page on coronavirus.

Here are links to the DOH clinicians page and the Patient Under Investigation (PUI) form.

Here is the CDC’s coronavirus page for healthcare professionals.

You can find links to the hospital preparedness checklist, as well as the interim infection prevention and control recommendations for patients with known or suspected 2019-nCoV in a healthcare setting.
